Born in Auckland in 1976 with Croatian heritage, Brad Novak is both a professional artist and a doctor.

Awarded an Important Commission

Brad has been asked to make a 25+ metre panelled painting for the wharekai on Moewhare Marae in Murupara. The process has begun with a journey, led by kaumatua, to important spiritual and ancestral mountains and rivers to learn about tikanga and their whakapapa.
"Being chosen is an honour that I will cherish for the rest of my life. However, this project is far bigger than any individual - it will forever link my whakapapa with that of the hapus" (Brad Novak 2008).

Artrite Screenprinting 2008 Artist 'Award'

Artrite has funded Brad to create a limited edition screenprint. Previous artists to receive this honour include Dick Frizzell, Michael Smither, Stanley Palmer and Fatu Feu'u (Glenn Taylor, Artrite 2008).
